Dr. Nelson Oppermann is an Orthodontist with more than thirty years of experience, been involved with the Bioprogressive, Sectional Mechanics and MEAW Studies. Recently, together to a team of experts, developed the temporary overlays guided orthodontics concept – TOGO – based on Prof. Rudolf Slavicek foundations. Academically, is involved as adjunct professor at the Department of Orthodontics at the University of Illinois at Chicago – UIC – USA for more than fifteen years and also to Vienna School of Interdisciplinary Dentistry – VieSID. Currently is involved with studies related to the interrelation between occlusion, craniomandibular growth and mandible repositioning, being published articles on important dentistry journals. Apart of those attributions Dr. Oppermann is an active and enthusiastic professor and lecturer, being visited many countries for teaching, with articles published based on physiological treatment concepts.

Education: Graduated from the University of Milan in 1988. Post-graduate studies with Prof. Cardonnet (1995) and Prof. Rozencweiz (1997). Master of Science from the Danube University of Krems (2011) with a thesis on “Virtual articulator model in CAD software environment.” Completed Prof. S Sato’s orthodontic course (2014-2017). Professional Experience: Private dental practice in Lecco since 1988. Close collaboration with a surgeon since 1994, gaining significant experience in digital radiology and TMJ diagnostics. Member of the “Clubbing for science” international study group (2011-present). Joined VieSID (Vienna school of Interdisciplinary Dentistry) and actively contributed to teaching materials and the teaching board. Member of the VieSID scientific research group since 2017. Presented at the VieSID Summer School in 2015. Current didactic coordinator of all VieSID courses and educational activities and member of the VieSID board. Key Beliefs: Emphasizes a holistic approach to patient care. Believes in evidence-based dentistry with a strong foundation in gnathology.
